“For the things of this world cannot be made known without a knowledge of mathematics” ― Roger Bacon
Choosing a course to study at the University was pretty difficult for me, as I had multiple areas of interests – Engineering, Medicine and Surgery, Mathematics, Biology etc. I was really undecided, not until my final year in high school when I eventually made up my mind that I was going to study Medicine and Surgery. Later on, God in His divine plan redirected my admission to Biological Sciences where I studied Zoology and Environmental Biology – a location where He rightly allocated me adequately.
Before then, while I was still in high school, I developed an unflinching love for Mathematics. My love for arithmetic glared in almost everything that I did. During my period of waiting for admission to a higher institution, which spanned 3 years, I spent most of my time and resources expanding my knowledge base in Mathematics despite my foreknowledge of the course that I was going to study in the University.
Although that wasn’t a correct demand of wisdom, yet I did it all the same, drawing from the philosophy that “No knowledge is a waste”. I was convinced that though I may not apply it that much in my field of study, still, it was strong in my heart to help those around me know it as much as I could. I did my little best as God enabled me especially in my early years at the University.
I’ve also made a little but sterling discovery of which I want to share with you in this article. Please read slowly and meditatively.
See what I’ve seen
Basic mathematics have taught me the concept of ‘variable and constant factors’ in arithmetic calculations.
Variable factors or numbers are known to be numbers that change in equations and are able to take different values at one point or the other whereas constant factors remain the same throughout a calculations. They may take different positions in the equation but their values are always the same.
While I pondered on this phenomenon in simple arithmetic, I soon realized that destiny also has its variables and constants. And just as arithmetic variables do not affect the nature of the constants, the values notwithstanding, so it is also in destiny.
In the arithmetic calculation, in order to get a desired result, the values of the variables must be well adjusted with the constant factors being in place – unaffected. This same principle of operation also applies to every man’s destiny in life.
The Constant Factors of Destiny
Destiny is God’s glorious determined end for your life. It is determined by God to be discovered and delivered by you. Many persons have discovered theirs but have failed to deliver it because, they missed the constant factors in their equation. They assumed them to be variable numbers, hence they ended up becoming victims of life and destiny.
The first and foremost constant factor in the almighty formula of life was accurately captured in Malachi 3:6 – “For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore, you sons of Jacob are not consumed”. God is the determinant matrix of your destiny and He does not change or ever given to change. He is immutable, illimitable, immeasurable and indomitable. He’s the fountainhead of every blissful future.
God also has made His word the second constant factor in the equation of destiny. Therefore, if you desire a glory-filled destiny, these constants must not become your variables. The captain of our destiny [Jesus Christ] has this to say concerning the constancy of the word – “For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law [the word of God], till all be fulfilled” ― Matt. 5:18.
God’s word is the wisdom of God – ‘the comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God’. It is the scriptural solution to every life problem and the answer to destiny questions.
Understanding the Variables of Destiny
God and His word are the key constants of life while you, your relationships and everything that you do, make up the variable numbers or factors of your destiny. Thus, God and His word are blameless of man’s predicament.
The problem of man is in man as but the solution to life is in God as long as the constant factors are kept intact and the variables varies positively. In every arithmetic calculation, variables always change with respect to constants and not vice versa.
You ‘ve got to pause and ponder here. Look into your life and check on the things that have been happening to you or had happened to you or perhaps is still happening to you. Has anything happened to your own equation? What may have gone wrong in the equation? It has to be fixed now.
Maximizing your Benefits from the Equation of Destiny
It is noteworthy to let you know that you have been equipped for excellence, empowered for exploits and set apart to be celebrated.
You do not need to become a mathematician to be able to solve the equation problem of your destiny. You may not bother yourself with the knowledge of algebra in order to succeed in life. All that you need now, is to do the following:
1. Keep the Almighty God Constant
God is much more concerned about you fulfilling your destiny in a grand style than you do. Before He gave you the vision of your life, he had already made great provisions for its accomplishment. All that He demands from you, is that you keep Him constant in your equation.
In keeping Him constant, you must give attention to what David, the Psalmist said in Psalms 34:9 – “O fear the LORD, ye His saints; for there is no want [or lack] to them that fear Him”. Fearing God means to reverence Him, honor, respect and obey His commands.
It means to hold Him in the highest esteem in all that you do. If done wholeheartedly, then every other good thing shall be added unto you.
2. Knit His word together with your Life
The word of God is the way of God contained in the Holy Bible. Inside God’s word are found all the principles and laws that govern both life and greatness. All that you need to become relevant and impactful is available in it.
I want you to give yourself to studying it, believing it and acting on it. It has turned dummies to stars, raised men from grass to grace and capable of lifting you from nadir to the zenith of excellence.
3. Know yourself
It takes adequate knowledge of yourself to discover your potentials, gifts, and abilities which are keys to your greatness in destiny. This same knowledge also helps you to understand, release and maximize your best for God and for humanity.
Take time to look into yourself. What can you do? What are you passionate about? What are your strengths and weaknesses? Take your time and think deeply and you will discover your true self. Then believe in dreams and work on them!
4. Strive for Excellence
You are in the most significant century that demands the best minds and high-powered brains. You must prepare to fit adequately to the demands of this time.
Excellence is a key! God have made provision for all that you need to be excellent but part of the equation is that you must work for it. It takes hard work to succeed and smart work to soar high.
5. Build Strong Bonds
Relationships are key to your destiny. Whatever money can purchase, relationships can do the same for you but that’s dependent on the quality of such bonds.
You must get committed to building relationship with people of like precious minds. People whose purpose in life are akin and in alignment with yours. It’s worth your time and investments.
Keep this in your Heart
Your destiny is like a stock exchange that is obedient to the principle of sowing and reaping. That is, what you sow is what you will eventually reap.
Three things determine what happen to your destiny – God, His word and yourself. But God and His word are completely unchangeable hence whatever that happens to your destiny is wholly up to you.
Jesus is still the answer for you today. Above Him, there’s no other because He’s the way. Let Him into your life and see it shine.
