Don’t Get Too Excited. You May Not Be Done With ENEMY OF CREATIVITY!

“The comfort zone is the great enemy to creativity; moving beyond it necessitates intuition, which in turn configures new perspectives and conquers fears” – Dan Stevens.

We are naturally intelligent beings but require creativity to improve our existence.

In an age, where technological advancements and innovations are at a jet speed, creativity is the sure train to maximum productivity.

We live in the timeline of core competencies and knowledge wizardry that is not limited to digital literacy, critical thinking and complex problem-solving, artificial intelligence, machine learning, to mention this few, but in a period of brain-flaming wonders, almost causing some of us to meander in the maze of its wonders.

I hope you still remember we’re in the 21st century? The century of witty inventions and unfathomable innovations. Inconceivable developments are yet to be witnessed.

Interestingly, this century holds massive prospects for those who will lay hold on their creative domain, explore their psycho-motive banks and deploy their God-given gifts to build edifices that will both have earthly and eternal value (see Prov. 18:16).

The sterling irony

I may not of a certainty, vouch if you would reject pleasure when it’s offered to you.

But I’m sure you wouldn’t prefer pressure to pleasure.

For me, I love pleasure. I love whatever gives me solace and soothe my relaxation. My natural self does not praise distress or anything that breeds discomfort. It was among the reasons, I made up my mind earlier in life that I would never be poor, so as not to stress myself in the future.

I think poverty makes life stressful. Do you agree with me?

Whereas I had this lofty dream, I was ignorant of the lane that leads there. I was then enjoying the path of least resistance.

Thanks to James Baldwin who rooted up this perception in quote captured thus: The most dangerous creation of any society is the man who has nothing to lose”.

I’ve soon discovered that, to achieve my dreamed future, I must give up solace and take up sacrifice.

Comfort is the cemetery of creative innovations.

Roy T. Bennet, hence beckoned: “Step out of your comfort zone. Comfort zones, where your unrealized dreams are buried, and are the enemies of achievement. Leadership begins when you step outside your comfort zone.”

I have always envied great leaders before I discovered their secrets. Indeed, they are men and women of great labours. None of these labours were ever carried out in the comfort land of pleasure.

Comfort is good, but it is still the bane to greatness if allowed at certain stage of one’s life.

Creativity and comfort are two parallel zones. Whereas the former is the zone of champions, the latter is the population of cowards and mediocre.

Nothing novel is ever created in the comfort zone; but at the creative zone, there’s never want of comfort at all.

Those who enjoy the comfort track usually end up as victims of the conquered zone. Therefore, to be relevant in life you must become responsible for your life.

To get to the zenith in your chosen field in life, you must move from your comfort district to the creative region.

It was King Solomon in Proverbs 22:13, who painted a good portrait of what a man in the comfort territory does: “The slothful man says, there is lion without, I shall be slain in the streets”.

It’s a Relationship

Comfort and creativity can be likened to the relationship between an engaged bride and a groom. In this, the bride ultimately waits for the set time, when her lover gained capacity to take up the responsibility so that her joy may be full.

It is a love affair. If at any time, emotion goes before maturity then dangers looms at the door.

The reward of creativity is comfort.

But comfort forestalls creativity when it is given the first hand before maturation. Creativity is the gateway to productivity; which is a sure pathway to comfort.

Symptoms of the Comfort Zone

Those who dwell in this valley often possess similar attributes. They have the same blood running through their veins.

The following are just few of the many signs and symptoms noticeable in a man dwelling in the comfort zone:

1. Adamancy to change

The comfort zone has a cooling effect on change. Indifference to the trends of the time is a major characteristic of anyone in the comfort zone.

Heed the plea of Peter F. Drucker: “If you want something new, you have to stop doing something old”

Everything around us are constantly changing (positively and negatively as well) and requires people who are well versed with the dynamics of these changes to seize the opportunity or proffer solution to the rising problems.

The power of creativity is oftentimes released at the point where change becomes basic.

Instead of being adamant to change, become adapted to it and watch out for the great addition that it will bring to your creative domain.

2. Excuse-giving and Fear of trying

Do you always have a thousand and one reasons why you will not do something? then you’re already slipping off to the comfort zone.

Creativity is a friend of failure. It often succeeds the moment it fails.

Every trial is a sure bet to great treasure, either now or later. Failing to try, is trying to fail and this could be very fatal.

If you continue to give excuses, soon your creative potential will exit you. Begin to exert pressure on yourself so that you can release the power of this dynamo residing in you.

3. Always avoiding stress

Lights Poxlietner succinctly buttressed this: “You have to be uncomfortable in order to be successful, in some ways. If you stay in your comfort zone! You would never do the things that you need to do.”

For anything golden to be produced, it must be passed through the furnace. The stress zone is the greatest region for creativity.

Ideas don’t jump out of people, they are pressed under pressure out of their Carriers.

Until you begin to cherish stress, success will never chase you. Stress is the refining flame of true accomplishments. Stop avoiding it but start embracing it.

5. Seeking pleasure in every venture

Your creative power may never prosper if you seek pleasure before productivity. Always remind yourself this: product is what determines profit.

The Holy writ in Lamentation 3:27 reads: “It is good for a man that he bears the yoke in his youth.” I

t is your exceptional creative power that will secures you an excellent comfort place in life.

6. Talkativeness and excessive sleep

People who talk too much especially irrelevant things don’t have much value for their destiny. Your creative mind will remain asleep as long as you give unnecessary sleep to your eyes.

Whenever you wake up, then, it will wake up as well.

So many persons have thrown away great treasures through vain talking. Don’t join the wagon!

Crushing these blocks

“Move out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try new things”Brian Tracy

It is time to make the decision that will determine your destiny. You have a choice to make. Stay in comfort zone and suffer for life; or step into your creative zone and transform your life and the world.

I want you to be deliberate about your choices, because every choice you make creates a chance for you and charts your future to a definite destination.

“Your ego can become an obstacle to your work. If you start believing in your greatness, it is the death of your creativity” ― Marina Abramovic

You need a supernatural influence to make this quantum shift. It’s in Jesus– the Lord. He is the capital of creativity and with him in your life, success is secured.

Let Him be your friend today, and stay comfortable only at your creativity zone and create a world of greatness for yourself and for others.

Powerful! Nothing works until we work. But anyone who desires his name to be written in the annals of history must get out of the comfort zone and pay whatever price is required of his desires.
Naturally, man is inclined to choose the comfort zone rather than the creative. It is risky though to get out of our comfort, as our nature always wants, but we have to take the risk because it worths it.
Until we push ourselves to leave the comfort zone, we are bound to never break the bond of mediocrity. We need God to help us and I thank you, #Christian@wisdomfount.com for availing yourself for God to use you in launching men into their place of destiny.
Comfort zone is not for me!
